Reasons for Reza

As most of you know I'm reworking Reza. Let's face it, the place is a nightmare. The question I put to you is, what is Reza's purpose within the game? Until now it's had none. I'll summarize some of the main alterations that have either happened or are planned for you to consider should you care to respond.
•
The rats are gone, so is the Pied Piper. Rehashing old fairy tales in a terribly uninteresting way is not the sort of thing I'm into.
  •
The stockade which surrounded the city is gone. It served no purpose and occupied hundreds of vnums.
  •
The gardens will no longer be two 6 room rectangles, they will occupy a more substantial part of the city and contain several puzzles.
  •
The "wings" branching out from the main center of the city are gone, to be replaced by...something. The gardens will probably move to one side.
  •
The underground, including Scarm's lair, has been purged. Scarm may or may not remain in Reza, any thoughts on this are welcome.
  •
The entire area is being rebuilt with mental challenges such as puzzles, mazes, and other assorted aggravations at the forefront. One major puzzle is nearing completion, head to vnum #4038 on the test port to give it a shot.
  •
Reza is supposed to have elements of an imperial port city by my understanding, and I'll be incorporating those aspects into the rebuild. Any further fleshing out of this or your own concepts for the "role" of the city within our world should be addressed here.

Also, I'd love to work with someone to develop an rp event explaining the changes to the area. I simply don't have the time to both rebuild the city and do an rp event, so any volunteers are welcome.

My suggestion for Scarm: He fled from Reza after the vampires and vermin were purged. In the chaos leading to him fleeing, he left his coffin behind, leaving him weaker than before. The citizens found it in the wreckage and sealed away as they could not destroy it for some reason. There could be a quest where the coffin can be taken to Scarm for a reward…. or he just gets pissed and attacks you having no further need for your presence. 8)

Some general suggestions for why things have changed so much: The easiest could be what amounts to a revolution. Could have been caused by a major slip-up from the vampires (though perhaps not too likely if they've been there a long while, always possible they've grown too comfortable, though). Perhaps if the new update is installed before the area is done, an invasion of mobs hit Reza, and in the chaos, the truth of either Caligo or the underground was discovered, maybe both. When people found out, realized what was going on, it caused a riot, and the destruction of any "undead influence" that could be found. Stockades: A long, dark tunnel around the entire city. If I were there for the human uprising, I know I would see that thing as a vampire snack bar, pretty much. Good reason to rip it down. Rats/Piper: In the cleanup that followed the riots, many rats were left without the abundance of food that was had before. The number has decreased enough (if not completely) that the Piper has simply packed up and left, thinking that he did a job well and ignoring his total lack of help during the times of trouble. Anyway, just a couple of thoughts.

Just as a quick side-note. Scarm's quest (currently) was one of the few inter-area quests I believe (plith to reza) and so whatever you choose to do with it, remember how people will react to not being able to get at scarm's coffin/fang/medallion. I vote for a relocation myself. Might allow a little more intricacy to the quest. eRT
