~~@Kraphin:~~ > Making the rift no_magic would also prevent players from casting spells there for the sole purpose of bettering their spells. It's a good idea if i've ever heard one. Or we can torture them by just disabling the check for betters part if they are in the rift. Even though the second option sounds hilarious the first one would reduce on spamming some, which is always good.

Actually, perhaps do both (no_magic AND disable better checking in the rift). I could sit in the rift and constantly look at an object all day with lore and get betters (though it would leave an ugly trace in the log). Then there's sneak, hide, fade, etc. They all can be abused in the rift. So, disabling betters altogether would be prudent.

  • And yay that means less people for me to punish :D

At least… unwillingly and without paying you. :D

  • Yar  I think I have you penciled in for next wednesday

OK screw it. Since i'm sick of dealing with these cheaters I propose we implement the rule that only one alt may be out of rift at any given time. Anyone disagree with this? I will also have it back out of the skill improving code if you are in social.

Should also make social no_magic as well. Player A could spell up Alt A at any time in there currently *that is, if this wasn't already implemented*. Further reduces cheating from assisting alts and from someone in Achaeus spelling up someone in Mystica.

I'm in full agreement of this, Syn Can we please just make it rift as too many people are abusing home and even churches as well . And can only the active player auction things too.

  • staff

You cannot auction from rift currently anyway.

  • I know but it's always best to state this with them, I've seen them log out auction then log back in rift in very dubious circumstanmces

We should make it so that rift is basically what it was meant to be: a "chat" mode which is essentially out of game, in which you can't do anything except talk. Currently I am only aware that you can cheat by spamming certain skills in rift. Will need to fix this ASAP. Does anyone know of any other ways you can improve your char in rift? As far as I know, there's no way to pass items.

Probably best to have it not add to hours while in rift as well, right now only vampires benefit from that (age is counted into sun damage, if I remember right)

~~@Areo:~~ > Probably best to have it not add to hours while in rift as well, right now only vampires benefit from that (age is counted into sun damage, if I remember right) I agree with this. I'm not certain, but do meditation and fast healing still work there? For some reason I'm thinking I remember getting a better in one of those on my mort… but I could be wrong. I'm still in agreement that we should disable all betters all together in rift, and make it a "chat" only zone. I also agree with Areo that time/age should not continue while in rift. Furthermore, I am in full support of a new rule disallowing any player to have more than one character in-game. Especially after the needed changes are made to rift.

Hrith, there is a function called char_update which updates chars every tick. It regens mana, hp, updates affects, etc. The game doesn't update your char if you are in social, so you shouldn't be able to improve fast healing or meditation while in social. However it is a very simple matter to disable all betters and have it back out of the skill improvement function if the char is in social.
