Multiplaying

  • I brought this up with Nibelung, Qalinosk, and Areo and since it gained some discussion I figured I would post here.

Players who have multiple characters logged on should only be allowed to have one character out of rift at any given time. This would discourage characters from camping multiple exits of a zone. (For example, the Abyss.) It would also make it harder for characters to transfer items between eachother, but as Qalinosk pointed out, it's still quite possible; just a slower process. Of course, that could be eliminated by allowing only one character per IP (unless noted that it's a shared IP) on at a time. Possibly a way to track when characters from the same IP come into contact with the same items in a certain amount of given time? (If Qalinosk reads this he can explain that one more.)

All in all, these are simple issues which can be avoided simply. If we can't give players the option to abuse rules and cheat they simply cannot cheat. (In regards to these issues, anyway.)

I've thought about bringing this up many times in the past but refrained because I figured it would bring on a bunch of MM comparisons, they have an identical rule.

While it might bring up some MM comparisons, I don't see much harm in using what is a rather good idea, especially when it would help with possible multiplaying issues. A 'one character out of rift at a time' rule would be a good thing, in my opinion. Also, if no one objects, I'm going to move this to requests, merging it with Nib's multiplaying topic there.

I agree with this rule… MM be damned, they suck anyway.
