Heya Imms,
I'm going to schedule a second design meeting with players and imms sometime around early February. More specific scheduling info is on the way, since I would like to have player input on when who can and can't come, but I would like to start assembling a list of topics right now.
I had a brief discussion with Pol about potential topics, story development is one of the issues that first came to mind, with two subtopics:
[list]
[*]What kind of themes will players want to see in the story? Battle between empires? Gods losing their powers? Perversion of magic? Knowing general guidelines like this will help us write a story that people will want to read. Having said that, we are trying to stay away from the OBVIOUS and bad fantasy cliches (e.g. a man whos father was killed trying to stop an unfathomable evil from the underworld while winning the love of his life, a la Wheel of Time, Sword of Truth, and pretty much every other fantasy novel in existence).
[*]What commonplace things in the game have no story backing? For example, why are people able to cast spells? Why are there different races? Why were various towns built? Without getting tooooo philosophical about it, getting player feedback on unexplained things will help us generate a cohesive storyline which will include things that are currently in the game so that we're not completely starting from scratch.

I will update this when I have more ideas, and pick about 8-10 decent topics as we get a list going. Everyone is welcome to contribute; I would like to cover things that haven't been talked about at all first, but I have no problem with talking more about stuff that we already plowed into at the last conference (e.g. combat, experience, questing and all that).
