They're annoying, so you want to put them in Sentience? :P Am I missing something?
We don't have a neutral beast race…
-
Well if you go with a feline race there was the ablitiy of Roar that would stun and cause damage and Pounce that would cause crushing damage. Natural resistance to cold and agility.
-
I've always liked the Gargoyle race idea, as far as a remort for it, I dunno.
Would make it where vampires are the only race that suffered during the day, only gargoyles would turn to stone instead of blow up. They would also get natural flight. Instead of giving them natural stone skin as well, make it temporary after a gargoyle returns to the flesh, representing the lingering affects of being stone. I'd make it where they NEVER get hungry or thirsty.
But any good ideas are welcome! they get the juices flowing. :D
-
The only problem I can see is that a Gargoyle race if stoned would miss half the game. They would have a hell of a lot of coffee breaks. And if stoned could you coem up and break them?
-
Yeah, Jazelle made my point.. that having a character who couldn't play half the time would suck.
-
I hate that concept that gargoyles turn to true statues during the day. Make the resistant to weapon/hand to hand, give them the lowest sp in the game, maybe human-esque hp due to the resistances, maybe something to take away one attack due to slowness, minimum of 1 attack.
-
i was under the impression half the game was stoned most of the time. playing a gargoyle really just kinda fits.
and halflings sounds like a good idea :)
-
I like the Feline idea more than a Halfling race myself.
-
HAHAH… funny soth :P
If Halfing/Kinder(Seen it spelled Kender too) were done, perhaps give them a natural affinity for theft and being a pack rat. >.> And I've also seen Halfings called Hobbits for some reason. Forget where I saw that, been ages. I'm pretty sure I misread it.
Maybe make them able to swipe from shops... or give the shop keepers a tendancy to run them out of the shops because of their thieving nature? :D
-
I've seen both spellings in books and magic cards. Yea they could have a cep-toe (sp) tendancy. If it's missing look at the nearest Kender or halfling.
-
Halfling race sounds rather bland. "He's kind of like a human.. but a short human.. and he likes to steal!" Whoop-dee-friggen-doo.
I still like the sound of the race suggestion I made back in the day of a half-robotic (old-type robots, like Dwarves would make.. automatons or something of the like, if you've played Arcanum), half-organic race. They would be somewhat favorable to dwarves because they were supposedly invented by them (note: based on no past story, pulled out of my ass). They would have no weapons or armor, but instead evolving metal carapaces and hand-to-hand damage (of sorts) based on skills that they receive from each multi (ie, damage: 1: claws, 2: razors, 3: blades, 4: serrations.. or some more evil-sounding word). For somewhat of an idea on what they would look like, I thought of the Phyrexians from M:TG (particularly those drawn by Sam Wood I believe was the artist), for those who played the game when those were around.
-
Na don't want no stinking mechines around the game. Better to go back to the feline race idea.
-
To be honest.. I dont like the ideas at all except the feline race…... it seems different.. i mean there is a snake/lizard and we have humans/vampires/slayers we have avian type characters. dracons.. then we have your elves... your purdy goodie goodie sexpot on a stick elves :> then you got your naga's now that was an interesting race... who ever came up with that idea had a good imagination cuz i never head of it before...
another kinda idea i have... is maybe a Shadow type character.... maybe something that has perm passdoor or somthing like that.. i dont know...
-
I think the Liger seemed like a somewhat interesting race.. but all I remember that it had going for it to be different was the leap and roar abilities… the leap seemed like just about any other combat starter, and I imagine though useful, the roar would get old rather fast.
No character has built-in, self-upgrading weapons and armor.. I think that would be a really different, interesting race to be. And if the idea of a race that is part machine and part organic disgusts you, I wouldn't care if it was anything else.. like perhaps some form of an insectoid, that "sheds its shell" when it multi's, obtaining a new outer protective casing and offensive capability, and has to learn how to use its newfound "equipment."

Doesn't Lich have that?
-
I'd like to see a griffon race.
Natural AC that increases with level, or a skill "toughness" that does this, removed item slots (arms, legs, hands, head), natural fly, an additional attack unarmed, a bite attack, a clawing attack, high strength, high constitution, low dexterity, mediocre wisdom, mediocre to high intelligence. Specially made weapons for them to hold in their talons, a penality for using normal. Resistant to poison, plague and blunt, vulnerable to fire. Average to high hp, average mana, high stamina.

I dont know.. i dont play that race :PPP

Time would be better spent balancing the current races and making them more unique unto themselves, rather than adding yet another race. Actually time would be better spent in a whole lot of ways, I could probably write a manifesto dedicated to the potential tweaks that could be made to the game as it exists now that would be much more beneficial to everyone in the long run.

I always thought of griffons haveing High… extreamly hight intelligance.... they in my minds eye are almost as pure as angels... to me.. i dontk now... but it seems like a good idea thought...

A griffon could be interesting, but you seem to give them way too much: everything except Dex is average-to-high. I'll grant that having the fire vulnerability is relatively bad, but other than those two… Other than some balancing, the weapon deal sounds interesting, and it could prove a cool race.. maybe give them some sort of swoop ability that lets you attack a few times before the fight begins.. like you hit and fly away before they can see you, but they'll have a chance to catch you each time (note: would be hard to get to work against players, but rather easy against mobs.. maybe for against players make the griffin completely invisible for a few seconds afterward, but enough that they're visible before they can swoop again, so if the player is looking, they will see the person a few seconds before they can be swooped another time). Sorry that is a tad long-winded and possibly a little incoherent.. but it's late and I should be getting to sleep, and I wrote all this as it came to me.. so it's sort of just strung together. If you need further clarification on what I mean, just say the word.
