Remort Races: Minotaur->Hell Baron

  • retired

    The Minotaur is defined by prowess in offensive combat, as well as resistance to most of the hazards of the natural world (cold, etc.).

    My ideas for hell baron:
    -Much faster regeneration
    -Horns with some potential use!

    You could possibly add a chance of goring, and have it as an affect that activates on bash or charge? Could possibly incapacitate for a round or just extra damage.

    looking at things i've done with minotaurs in past games i've played (but bringing it to a hell baron standing).. regeneration, using very large weapons in one hand, being able to rage/berserk, throwing players over walls (dnd session, threw a halfling over a 15ft wall to get us in :P). But hell barons definately need SOMETHING. raised bash damage, lowered stamina loss from charge, charge being worth while to use even (maybe by making it not based off bash and losing nearly all stamina when using it).

    That throwing idea has given me one: The ability to grab players (maybe mobs) during combat and THROW them. If players, they can't be thrown into CPK unless they are IN CPK to begin with. Nor can they be thrown into a CPK room with an aggressive mob (easily abusable :P ). Can't be thrown into deathtraps either ( same reason ). Maybe prevent non-crusaders that are mounted to be thrown… not sure. Throwing your opponent in combat can knock them out (slim chance, less if they are flying), but the primary use for it is to damage them.

    I think it would be pretty interesting if charge worked a bit differently… The minotaur/hellbaron would have to start a charge x rooms away, and the farther they charged before slamming into an opponent would determine the damage that opponent would take, and perhaps would set a % chance that some negative effect would take hold. Stamina loss could be based on the number of rooms the horned beast decided to charge, with progressive rooms requiring more stamina, due to the increased speed. Hellbaron charges would do more damage than mino charges at the same charging distance, due to better horns and more body mass. Also, I think %skill in charge would allow the hellbaron(maybe not minos) to charge around corners to attack a foe. My best guess for syntax on this skill would be "charge *target* *direction*". Some possible status effects would be, in order of most severe to least severe, Target CRUSHED, major damage and 1-2 round stun, Target IMPALED medium damage and loss of hp per round due to bleeding(could be stopped with magical healing), Target MAIMED medium damage and penalty to dex and hit roll, and Target SLAMMED medium damage and target knocked to the ground.
