Backstab = useless

    Hey, how about we make backstab do something again? Currently it does less damage than a round of combat with equal-leveled weapons, so simply attacking is better in the damage area, plus it has approximately 2 rounds' worth of lag. Yay, I want to use that...

    Well of course one fix to this would be removing the free round of attacks you get when first attacking and reducing the lag on backstab. That of course would have to lead to mobs being changed since some require that free round of combat to be beaten…and yeah, I'm not going to open that can of worms right now. Anyway, I agree with you but I think that's the best solution and it will require a long time to get the game changed for that to go through. Or maybe it won't and Syn can snap his fingers and do it when he has the time. O.o

    Wouldn't it be much simpler to just increase the damage multiplier on backstab?

    it only has one round of lag And it's damage on top of the round of combat that follows it..worth it if you ask me

  • eh, backstab is worthless to me. It's more efficient to flee/kill mobs, you can't do that with backstab because of the lag. For me, backstab does as much damage as one hit from my weapon. Or it sure seems that way.

    ~~@Spunky:~~ > it only has one round of lag > > And it's damage on top of the round of combat that follows it..worth it if you ask me Ok, one round of lag, but the next round allows them to hit you, where as attacking doesn't and does more damage than the backstab.

    Backstab is utterly useless. On the test port I was averaging around 175-185 damage for a backstab, which is far less than a single round of combat. This skill is definately in need of modification.

    The same can be said of trample. Not sure how much damage it does, should get on the test port and see sometime. Fact is, it is an extra 1-200 damage, round of combat that is just your attacks, then opponent's attack kicks in. Would like to see the damage upped a bit on the test port to see if it is crippling or not. It should make an impact without being overwhelming.

    is it really that bad? i'll definitely up it if so, i would like some feedback from others first (maybe paste into here a round of combat between two people who are roughly the same level). Against someone of the same level, a successful backstab should take the victim down a third of his HP or so (i mean it IS a dagger in the back). If i can get some feedback with some numbers on the testport Ill up it. 8)

    honestly, a year and a half ago, id bs people no problem it was fun to do so, but with all the lag it just seems pointless i do more damage with my attacks and dont have to wait a round to cast dispel. Maybe you could make the opponent (the one stabbed in the back by this dagger) to lag for a round as well. In all honesty i dont see someone moving right off the bat after being stabbed in the back. currently the best dagger in the game is a (blackened claw 306 damage remort only) assuming it hasnt changed bs does 3x the damage so thats about 900 damage with sanctuary 450 and then ac taking in affect about 300 correct? so your doing about what the dagger does for damage. currently you lag but the opponent doesnt, so 1 heal and thats cured and some. what im thinking is make them lag for a round too as well, that way you have the initiative still. Also, lets say the opponent starts casting a spell before you bs them and you bs them before the spell takes affect. How about having a high chance that you may counter their spell or a chance to make it fail.

    It does appear as if mob level affects how much damage a backstab will deal. I was getting around 375 damage with my backstab vs. Ravage, which is better, but not as powerful as normal rounds of combat.
