Seems to me, that shifted players should still show up somehow as being in that town. Maybe if shifted as a rat on main street, a where will show a rat on main street, and maybe it could show player name is somewhere in town but be unable to pinpoint where. Just not knowing that someone is there at all is an unfair advantage to whoever is hiding, and with the addition of a no-hunt q cloak there is no telling at all which town someone is in. Yeah, it's great to be able to sneak attack but c'mon, there's being able to disguise who you really are and then there's having abilities almost akin to wizinvis - rendering any other player completely oblivious and defenseless against a surprise instant death.

First off Stareve, in the instance that preceded this thread coming into being a simple who would have told you i was in same area as you. As there is but one area with that identifier at this time.
And 2, the stealth is the entire reason for shape. And the entire reason for the no_hunt cloak.
And 3, Are you realy typing where constantly while fighting a mob? Perhaps in your case look would have been better, and you would have seen a strange mob in the room with you as I had to wait a good 30 seconds to a minute for u to finish off the chef.
And 4, Had you known I was there, the attack was timed with the death of the mob to the point that I do not believe you would have had time to leave anyways, and had you fled before killing the mob I was also ready to follow you out into the adjoining room to attack you as well.
So actually IMHO shaped shouldnt even show an area on who but that would be asking a little much. The way it is now is just fine. Plus if you had tried to hunt with me standing right there it would have told you with or with out the cloak.

Isn't that what the ring of truesight does?

Aren't we the egomaniac. If I was complaining about just that PK, i'd have taken it to the whining board.
My comment is intended to balance the game. Yeah, in the keep a who list shows your location as Keep. How does that make it balanced at all for all the other players in other towns? I'm not talking about just me, but about anyone who can get PKed in any town. If it only shows your location as towne on a who list, and you're in say Plith, no-hunt and shifted, there is no way for someone to tell you're in that town at all unless they're in the room with you (not counting any quest items it's not likely many people have) by which time you have triggers and whatever else set up with pursuit so there is really no chance to escape. I think to make it balanced people need to at least be able to tell there is someone else in the town where they are - even if they can't tell who that person is or exactly where they are, to be able to accurately judge the risk of entering a PK area. No single skill/spell or piece of equipment, or combination of the above should give a player an advantage that strong.

Ring of TrueSight only shows if in same room as the shifted/shaped person.

Just interesting that the post was here so quickly afterwards. Probably while you were still dead from affore mentioned pk.
And I guess my point is this Stareve, I wasnt in the area you were in when you entered pk. So shaped or not I would not have shown on who or where for that area. The point is this, you knowingly entered a pk area, that shows readily that you are there. And you should know by now, that I or anyone with proper means can get there very quickly. Being as how I was shaped as a non-resident mob of the area, when I walked in the room you should have had a clue. It not the skills/eq/natural sneakiness I have but your apparent in attention to what was going on in the area while you were busy with a mob. NOT while you were making the assessment of risk of going in. You knew (or should have known) the room you were in was less than 10 steps from the door to the hall of my church. You knew I was active (or should have since you saw me at the mayor several times.)
To change the where now to show shape/shifted characters would negate the reason for those abilitties. I say leave as is. And yes I am one with these abilities, but as is well known, I also have to characters that dont, so when on these characters, I dont enjoy that benefit, but yet they still get there fair share of action, and plan on getting more. And they also risk not knowing where a shifted/shaped char might be when going into pk areas. So this is not a totally biased opinion.
