Anyone else think it'd be really nice to have more new quest items, maybe even another quest master? Some of these might already exist, just tossin ideas out there :)
I was thinking of new items.. wouldn't it be neat to have a container which produces random items like eq, food, lights, trash, just a whole bunch of different things? Like a surprise grab bag, which could only be activated every so often
Was also thinking it'd be nice to have some spiffy shoes or something with word of recall (think Wizard of Oz) that wouldn't suck your mv dry intended to be cheap to make a good first q item for newbies just losing recall, quest bow/crossbow/arrows/bolts etc, limited use enchant armor/weapon items for those of us that don't have 'em, or an item to locate the airship etc in relation to cities..
Or what about a necklace with some spells? We have ammy already, which is great for stats but crowds out spells - a lot of the best are mostly available in necklace form (thinking improved invis, detect hidden, detect invis, those sort of things)
I think a great q item for RP value would go in breastplate slot. Maybe just a plate with good armor value on it, sanc and bless - something that from RP would be an important item in the armory that would be an honor to recieve for loyal service, symbolizing the leader's blessings. A lot of the q items are great to have, but lack that honorable theme which imho distinguishes them from something you can just go purchase somewhere.
'k, I'm done for now, y'all feel free to jump in there :)

Well I posted under suggestions Items/Q Items, before i saw the motd msg with this link. Check it out there. Or Syn or lukus can move to here.

Ok I came up with one that could be interesting
How about an orb or other device for casting spells, which will cast every protective spell or at least quite a few of them, for a short period of time?
Like one with shield, sanc, stone skin, and so on. Make it a couple uses or quite cheap so people will actually buy them. That would really come in handy before facing really beefy mobs.
Also (as far as I know off the top of my head) I don't think we have any quest items for sleeves, belt, light, ring, leg, arm, hand, feet..
How about good/evil lights? Like an enchanted globe of hellfire for evil, can't think of anything clever atm for good, but either way have a spell which will be really nice for that particular align, probably have to toss a neutral align light in there too - maybe a faerie in a bottle.
-
Got another one. How about a token which can be used for transport between the continents? Like take it to specific mob and room in Plith or Olaria and it creates a portal of very short duration to a specific mob and room in Ach, and the other way around for return trip. Now I'd buy those, worth it to not have to sit around and wait on boat or airship.
-
Haven't looked at the suggestions here but I thought I'd add one of my own: a quiver which generates random bolts/arrows.
-
I'd buy that 8)

How about a milking jar so Sith/Nagas can be milked (willing or otherwise) for toxins, which can in turn perhaps enchanted/used in enchanting, or for use with the envenom skill? It would be pretty funny if you screwed up using the milking jar to envenom a weapon and it affected the user. :)

How about a sword of Sentience?
This sword would have attack type of buyers choice (could be changed by renewing maybe (remember that cost 1/10 of original price)).
Would have avg damage say 2.5-3.0 times that of level (would be 300-360 at 120)
HR and DR say 1/6 of level (20 each at 120)
Alternately could just be a Weapon of sentience and have weapon type deterimined at buying also.
syntax would be quest buy weapon type (attackdamage)
And would be one handed.
Would cost similar to say the shield, maybe a little more.
I Also would think that maybe this would be a nouncurse item, possibley nodrop as well.
Anyways what you all think?

Also, how about a quest item that changes the damage type of a weapon and another that changes the type of weapon.
Someone has a sword of plith but really wants a whip and can't find one, so they save up the qp and buy the essense of destruction for like 7500 qp. They take it to the hell forge with the weapon and "recreate weapon plith whip." The sword of plith will be changed from sword to whip with appropriate normal damage flag. Restring will be in order after this, payable by player.
Person is unhappy with slash as a damage flag, so pays another 7500 for a shard of chaos. They take it to the hellforge with the weapon and do a "recreate damage plith 'shocking bite'"

Those ideas would be better than making the sword of sentience changeable by renewing, good ideas Ith

well after All ITH IS a genius *grins*
interesting ideas guys

I really like the idea of being able to modify eq - that is very similar to my original idea which I'm pretty sure resulted in enchant armor. Original idea was to have gems which would provide specific qualities, which could be added to eq.. like maybe a transparent gem which would be gained from a mini quest or purchased with qp, taken a specific place and forged with an existing piece of eq to add pass door to it, a red gem to add fire/flaming and so on. Make a limit of how many gems can be added to any piece of eq and make them difficult to get to prevent abuse - but think how much more interesting that would be for eq diversity.

I think it'd be really cool to have a quest item that functioned as a relic detector, to aid in the recovery of church relics. Maybe it would even freak out and alert you when a relic is being pulled.

Ok time for me to add in my two cents :) I only have a couple of ideas. Aren't Y'all lucky!!
I would like to see another quest item for leveling kinda like the apple but this item would only give you 1/2 the exp till next level for a lesser price. I really don't want to rush to 120 using apples but having the option to take 1/2 exp off would be cool instead of eating an apple and skipping a whole level. Plus once you quest up and buy two of them 1/2 exp items depending on the the price a person would have paid more or just as much for a apple anyways :)
Also, Syn mentioned something about more quest masters, I think the two we have that run us all over the place are enough. A few places have this already but what about giving each town a series of mini quests for all the classes to participate in. Make up some super cool rewards that would make people want to come and explore other places in the game instead of just staying in one town or continent.
OK all done :) Hope ya enjoy!

I like the half level q item idea Ashie - maybe a pear :)
I posted this under the warpaint thread too, reposting because some of the info belongs here:
Q item idea - vial of tattoo ink, which can be taken to specific locations and mobs to get a permenent tattoo with spell effect based on Syn's idea. For example, go to Kalandor to a new mob/shop to get a dragon tattoo based on the town's famous dragon, with fly spell on it.
-
I like that idea star, but however, that will then ruin the point of having armors, if you can get tattoos with spell affects, then armors with special affects will have no point after you are quested enough.

I'd think making them expensive and difficult to get would be adequate. Make higher level spells require more ink, maybe a mini-quest or a fee too, to get the tattoo done. Maybe do something like one vial costs as much as a chart, and will do 2 low-level tattoos, 1 average tattoo or require more than one vial to get a powerful tattoo. Also ban the most powerful spells from being tattooed. I doubt seriously that very many players will have the tenacity to keep on questing to get the quest items most people want as a basic set (ie chart, silky, keyring, whatever else you guys think is a must have) and then continue on to get a full set of tattoos. Most people that get them I'm guessing will get 1 or 2 that aren't on very many convenient pieces of equipment or that they just think are really cool, and leave it at that.
And if they did get all kinds of tattoos and decide to ditch the armor, whats wrong with that? I think it'd be pretty cool to be covered in tattoos and go around showing 'em off! Not to mention, in a way they would be armor - work for it, buy it and it makes you stronger.. could enhance our options. How many times have you turned down a good piece of eq in favor of one that had a particular spell you just had to have? I know a couple pieces of mine pretty much suck, except that I need the improved invis, detect invis etc on them - if I had these somewhere else other than having to cast constantly, I'd have a lot more viable choices for what to wear in those slots. Could help eliminate how many people wear the same eq at the same levels like a uniform because everybody agrees that's the best stuff for that level.
k that's enough of a rant for now 8)

I think tattoo sets would be really cool… Ink from questing + special area quest tattooers for sets would be sweet...I think different collors would be cool. :} Maybe you could opt to show tattoos in your character description with some sort of setting.
I still think a sith milking jar would be sweet. Especially if I can envenom my caster shells with it...
:snoring: :rifle:

Got another idea..
A flare, or a box of flares. Using throw skill, can throw flare in direction of choice or drop in same room. Level/skill level determines how far you can throw one, or possibly be able to throw only into next room but be able to use bow or crossbow skill to fire further. Flare would reveal hidden, feigning or shifted players - maybe only reveal shifted players as whatever they're shifted as instead of player name. Good for one use each only. Could also be used to reveal hidden items, exits etc. Maybe be able to light a flare and carry it around revealing as you go for a short time, with damage cost every room to account for sparks burning you and revealing yourself in the process (removes your invis, cloak, shift etc). Priced similar to a moonstone.
What do you guys think?

i think seeing a low level mob with sanctuary, evil aura, and invisibility is a tip off enough that it's a player. The P-base isn't big enough for it to warrant an issue.
The quest items of the game are pretty much fine now. New areas and new area mini-quests, especially some more challenging ones are the way to go.
