I would like to formally suggest we do away with the "grats" channel completely and replace it with the much needed (and missed) in-game "quote" channel.

edit: Changed my mind. If it's an ingame quote, just use gossip. If it's an OOC quote, use OOC. Or just come here to quote :P
But! I don't think we need the grats channel. Gossip works just fine for that.

Not to rain on this, but what would the point be for the Quote channel? :P
Display OOC quotes? That's what OOC is for.
Display IC quotes? That's what Gossip is for.
Just curious for the reason there needs to be a quotes channel. :P
Would all speech on quotes be recorded in a log for later viewing?

As I've responded many times whilst in game, the quotes channel would serve little more purpose than the ridiculous grats channel we have currently. The difference being, quotes would be something that has been used in the past, with a great deal more enthusiasm than grats, and appropriately at the same time. I can recap hundreds of quotes that were used in-game with that channel, which I still laugh about to this day. Practicality is the point I'm trying to argue.
It takes little more effort to type '. grats
' than to use the actual channel itself, whereas a quote is something that takes quite a bit more involvement. Furthermore, quoting while using ooc/gossip can easily be taken out of context. My proposition is to replace a redundant channel with something that has a more practical, and more fun use.

The only real reason the grats channel was in the game was so that people could turn off those automated greetings, which I dont really see a point for anyway :>
If we had a quotes channel would people really use it? Adding a channel's pretty much the easiest thing to implement but I dont want to add another channel noone uses.

OK it sounds liek a deal. When I get back my code Ill kick out grats and replace it with quotes.

Could have a TRIVIA channel too. Big, bright letters so people can see them. :)
