Pretty strait foward. There is no way to prove or disprove alts cheating for one another. One example would be one character sitting in Poa, and another on the portal of the abyss. The player can sit and wait for someone to leave, have a noise trigger when someone arrives, and then get an easy cpk. Also, reconings, someone could find out with one character, and then sing on with the other, and kill people with the bigger character. I was thinking a timer, like 10 mins per account. Basicly, having all alts under one account, and the game make the other character wait for 10 mins, they could sign on, but be frozen. I am not sure how the coding would work, but I am just pointing out the lameness of it. Having 2 of your own characters on at once, rifted or not, is lame. You can level one, and quest the other, do all sorts of like that you would normally have to sit and idle.

i understand where emtae i s mocing from on this but…this doesn't account for a lan system, or for a wifi network. Most of the time i'm on someone else is on as well, under the same ip address. Right now i mud while i'm hanging out at a local coffee shop. other people play when i'm on as well. The other thing about the wait time is if i'm playing and dark wants to get on and say something to someone, or just to play for i bit, it would make him have to wait to play. If there was a way around it (people cheating with alt's) i would be all for it, but as it stands it would be unfair to those of use who do not have the luxuray of a home internet connection. We would be punished for the actions of others. and it's unfair.

sorry for the bad typeing, i just woke up and the first line is suposed to be where he's coming from.

Well Crawley it is unfortunate that a few lameass people with no integrity would cause a need for something like this. Whats even more lame is only a few people from a select crowd would be allowed to get away with using alts to spy, triggers to level, triggers to level skills, and flee killing to level while others would be deleted for it.

I disagree with this entirely. Just because someone has an alt in POA and on in the dungeon doesn't mean they're spying. Even if that is they case and it was somehow banned, what's to stop churchies from relaying information for someone who wants to camp the Abyss? More so, what's to stop someone in general from doing the same? Even if people aren't greatly acquainted, they can still work together and acheive a common goal. What you suggest only hinders people from enjoying the game. Implementing bullshit timers for inappropriate reasons will begin the path toward becoming Materia Magica. Most of us left that game for similar reasons, and I can't imagine this game turning into something we all hated and banded together to protest.

I'm not sure what spurred this, however, I'd like to point out a few simple things. Anyone can make inferences about where someone is. If, for example I'd like to pk someone, and I see them in the pyramid for any length of time, I can assume they are in PoA and camp for them. Likewise, being that mystica is the only dungeon we have, I can assume that there's a good possibility it's being camped if I'm trying to get back from PoA.
On a second note, Well put Llauf. It is too bad that people had to abuse this to make it an issue. However, if no one knows about it, it's really very difficult to dissuade people. If you have a problem with this, either come to any immortal online and they can help deal with the situation, note me along with a system time (type time) and I will look for any foul play, or e-mail me with a log of what happened (also include a timestamp please) and we can help.
I don't really see who has been deleted unjustly and who has not been punished at all, but if anyone would like to clue me in, you all know how to get ahold of me. This is just a small reminder though. If you ask someone why they were deleted, 9/10 times they will say something like "because the imms hate me" or at least try to downplay their part in the need for discipline. We currently have a pretty good system with 3 IMPS at the top. If you have a problem with an immortal ruling, let us know. If you have a problem with any of the IMPs, let another one know. If you have a problem with all the IMPS and the imms, you may just want to stop and wonder what you did wrong :-p

Well, my point was that some people are using alts to sit in dung, and one to sit on poa entrance. One alt can bar poa door, the other alt can sit and wait.
The alts in the same room is one thing that never happens, unless someone was in the rift on accident, and then they promptly leave. That's not where people are having issues.
For crawly:
As for couplels signing on, we all know one another pretty well saddly. We know who is married, who is getting married, etc. And there's people on the game that know one another from friends, or related. That's not an issue either, that's a couple just trying to play. The imms know about it I am sure, and every one doesn't mind them playing.
So back to the center of all this, having one person playing with more than one alt on at a time is illegal. If they want to play with their other alt, they should have to log on the new character, not have 3 or 4 of them sitting in the rifts, or in the temples, and then they can switch to attack someone with that new character, but the other character failed to either pk, or get something. We are humans, people will try and cheat to get passed the system.

Yeah, the whole watching people with an alt thing is pretty lame I think. We try our hardest to see that sort of stuff happening as imms… unfortunately, this is one of those things you really can't prevent with code because if you limit more than one site at a time you might knock out people on the same network.
