Ah thanks for the response Ertai, I love it when the imms tell us mere mortals how things work. If any of you would be so kind as telling us some more formulas and such, im sure it appease the anal bastards among us. One I have been wondering about is just how the armor class system works as I have had a hard time testing that with the randomness of damage. Looking forward to the pmount info though , thanks. :)

I was wondering if an imm or whoever could post the pmount options and prices? Or adding in to the ingame help would be even better. -

RE: The Unabridged Discourse on Racial ComparisonActually the best weapon does 15d49 (375 life drain.) with natural hr 5 dr 5. About 469 per hit. Im all for removing bard spells, but to be frank thats a serious change and will require some serious creativity to come up with songs that are interesting, and hopefully some better song names :Pposted in Adjustments Archive

~~@Ithilidin:~~ > Uncalled for? I do not think so. Worded strongly, perhaps. You singled out one race to be "exploited." What about dwarves with their useless vulnerability and many decent resistances? Dracons and their underutilized vulnerablity? Or, to even lesser extents, the uncommon vulnerabilities of slayers, which is found on two weapons and one spell, or titans, which is found on one weapon, that no longer is available to players, and two spells. Evil players and the lich race are well represented in the game. All of this has been addressed in the misbalance thread at some point or another.
Actually theres 3 negative weapons, one 117 , two 120s. And the 120 weapons do over 400 damage. If you can find something that does higher to any other race feel free to let me know. And I believe you have curse of the abyss. And while I am bitching, something beyond ironic is the fact that almost every undead mob in the game does negative damage. The slayer is the ultimate of holy warriors; it is a special sect that wishes to seek out the **undead** and put an end to their measly existence. Years of training under the parish and with clerical assistance the Slayer develops a technique of damaging the **undead** beyond repair. Slayers have for centuries despised vampires as the most lowly undead creatures. If you guys want to be useful how about coming up with a vulnerability that makes sense for slayers. -
RE: BardsPravus's idea does pose some interesting possibilities, though substanial work for the imms to revamp the instruments. Some simple suggestions if that route was taken: Brass Instruments-Would have high AC Wind Instruments (flutes i.e.)-Perhaps a speed increase of some sort Percussion Instruments- Increased damage Stringed Instruments-Reduction of music cost No real theme going on but if bards are going to have to hold the instruments to play, making instruments that play more of a role might be cool. You could also make it so you can play only certain songs on an instrument, which would be a balancing nightmare of course, but you could hardcode the spell into the instrument so it behaves sort of like a wand or what not. I.E. Llauf bangs a drum solo on his War Drum! The earth trembles beneath your feet! The earth trembles beneath your feet! The earth trembles beneath your feet! or Llauf plucks an epic ballad on his Lute! You feel slower! You feel weaker! Alot of possibilities.posted in Discussion/OOC

RE: BardsI personally only see a few things needed to make bards fair. Tone curse of the abyss drastically down for one. If player is holding instrument then increase speed and affect level by 10% If player is not holding then sing with decreased speed and affect level by 10% If player is blind check for holding instrument, if no instrument sing with 30% failure rate. If player silenced check for holding instrument, no instrument, no play. Some other checks could be to gather how many targets there are, and for every target past 1 add a 5% failure rate, represented by.. stage fright or what not. Another idea is to give racial charisma to every class and have that affect the affect level slightly. i.e. elves would be the highest on a scale of 1-3 having a 3 so theyd get a +2 to the affect level where as a lich would be 1 and have a -1 to affect level. Just some ideas.posted in Discussion/OOC

RE: Favored WeaponsAlthough I don't see how this applies to favored weapons, I don't see why there isn't items to reduce vulnerabilities. I don't think it'd be to hard to add, but frankly I'd like to see the eq in the game have actual resistances to slash/bash/pirecing/exotic first.posted in Adjustments Archive

RE: MisbalanceObviously your not comprehending my point Emtae. The point was that if your 2 in 1 handing it does consistently more damage than the random holy wrath damage bonus.posted in Adjustments Archive

RE: No more than one alt onWell Crawley it is unfortunate that a few lameass people with no integrity would cause a need for something like this. Whats even more lame is only a few people from a select crowd would be allowed to get away with using alts to spy, triggers to level, triggers to level skills, and flee killing to level while others would be deleted for it.posted in Adjustments Archive

RE: Illusionist UpgradeThats sorta making it a pk spell so I don't know about that idea.posted in Discussion/OOC

RE: Illusionist UpgradeOk, I lied, I'm not done. Ok, my reasoning behind the scribing spell defection is that if you scribe dispel / spell deflection, you get dispelled, and when you rem all wear all the affects probally wont come on. Add blind to the mix… and its a free silence. The main problem, is its fast as hel...excuse me.. fast as heck. Fast enough that you can do an unblockable dispel song, and cast it while they are re equiping. Thats a little to fast IMO. As far as winds of confusion... something needs to be done there, everyone disbanding is to much. And this 'its only good until people make triggers to regroup yada yada' ? Are you serious? 4 people are going to make triggers to regroup from one spell? Thats ludicrous. If you cast it every round, we are all going to regroup? Now I think its a novel spell and cool, but it should be changed to perhaps make one person disband? Something to tone it down. Even one person ungrouping is in affect killing a person off instantly. Think about that.posted in Discussion/OOC

RE: Illusionist UpgradeAs usual your literay prowess amazes me. And yes you are the first to exploit it. Congrats. With a player base of 10 at a time this shouldn't be a surprise. And I could care less if you couldnt brew it also. I've gave good logic to every point i've made. Your cop out of 'Its all illusionists have!' . Funny, I don't see any archmage spell dominating, I don't see ensnare making a profound difference in game play. If all illusionists have is spell deflection and thats a reason to allow it to be cast on everyone, then illusionists have a problem as a whole. Enough from me, maybe when you continue to beat the shit out of people playing this game for years when your not even maxed well say something.posted in Discussion/OOC

RE: Illusionist UpgradeLets clear this up, illusionists are one of the best classes in game atm. The fact they havent been exploited until recently is astounding at best. No other class changes the way the game is played except bards. Combine the two and you HAVE to change your strategy to win against them. **Spell deflection**.. what can I say? Broken? This needs some nerfing in a big way. Two things: 1\. This spell should not be cast on others, as in coded so it cant be cast on others. 2\. This spell should not be scribable. This spell is just too lethal to cast on others in combat. Its like I said, a poor mans silence. In fact allowing it in potion form is borderline overpowered. **Winds of Confusion** - Until last night I had no idea how powerful this spell is. Might need some toning down or require a moonstone. **Darkness** - This should not require a moonstone. I'm sure theres a use to it sooomehow, but for a moonstone? Nah. And the Image ideas could be cool. And not game breaking. __As far as a weapon bonus__??? WTF!? *slaps emtae* Nonsense. The power of the illusionists should be non combative. More spells to avoid fighting, not to enhance it IMUHO.posted in Discussion/OOC

RE: MisbalanceOk, now lets talk about the biggest imbalance of the game…. **Titans** wtf…. They do more damage than you. They can take more damage than you. What takes you 10 rounds to kill, theyll do it in 6\. They are huge. You are large at best, medium at average, and a dwarf? Sigh. Soooooooo... lets cast some lightning bolts... woops, im already dead, how many rounds was that? Behold!! Chain lightning! Oops, that cost me a round of initiative and alot of life. OOops, Im dead again. Ok, maybe spells arent the way to go, I'll just use my trusty trapsoul whip. Ouch, wtf is he wielding?? Ow, a sword of stugardd and an ataraxia.. Geezus.. Whats next... Ah, lets go with dispelling him... wtf, it bounced back! Ok, whats he doing, oh he played a song, but I cant counter that! Shit, I'm dispelled... rem all; wear all wtf, he cast spell deflection on me!!! I have no affects, who let that be cast in pk fights??? Thats like.. like, silence for free, and faster too! But I thought titans were dumb?? Oh my, they have 25 25 25 25 25 stats like everyone else I forgot... but they are slow right? Nope, they have 25 25 25 25 25... Glad I went destroyer for my 4th attack... oh boy, he got that for free just for going titan! But but, I thought they were slow?? Lets get it straight, the best shit in the game is what? For stats, life. In the end mr elf, doesnt matter how many times your healing yourself, while your healing hes going to dispel or what not. And what else? Hit roll and damage roll. Want to win at pk? Go druid and enchant your way to cheese. There was a time when I thought dispel and blind were the key. Doesnt make much of a difference when your taking massive amounts of damage and have to deal twice as much. Its ironic that such popular class combos of druid, sage, illusionist, bard are the most powerful. Enough ranting, what can we do to fix this atrocity... For starters, make pk battles last a little longer. Now I dont mean the 10 minute fights, but tone the damage down. Theres no time for tactics, after a round and youve lost 1500 life, wtf can you do? Titanic attack is just ridiculous. Get rid of that garbage. If the fact that titans get to hold a two handed weapon isnt enough... at leeeast change it so theres a 1 in 10 chance of increased damage. Truthfully though it just needs to be removed. For the love of god, they can have over 5000 life? The 25 stats for everyone just doesnt make sense. (Except for lich btw which gets shafted yet again in the dexterity...) Anyways, stats should really have a cap off of some sort. Otherwise all the classes are the same except for hp mana move and vulns. Another thing, titans should really be vulnerable to magic. Makes sense to me? Personally, I think the lightning vulnerability makes no sense. From a mythological standpoint that is. Titans should require more movement in fact, and have to eat and drink twice as often. The point is there should be negatives to going a race that has the strongest bonus in the game. Like I said, wtf is the point of holy wrath if I could have went titan and done even more damage to evil? And to good, and to neutral. Like myth said, screw evil, they aren't the power of the game, its the good races that get to pick the over powered bard and races. (except for slayers of course)posted in Adjustments Archive
